The Good Afternoon Program (GAP) is a program designed to support young migrants and refugees in making healthy lifestyle choices around food and physical activity. The program is open for young people aged between 12 and 25 years.
Anyone interested in enrolling in the program and for further information please contact reception.

Good Eating
The ‘Good Eating’ part of the Good Afternoon Program will be focused on encouraging the participants to learn how to choose healthy foods to eat, and how to prepare nutritious and tasty snacks and meals.
The ‘Good Eating’ component will include:
- preparation of healthy and tasty snacks
- fun, interactive workshops about nutrition and food; and
- a free, healthy and delicious afternoon tea every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoon!
In addition we will organise excursions to local shops where the students will be able to practice choosing and buying healthy foods.
In order to reaffirm the value of these young migrant and refugee’s cultures, special ‘Sharing Days’ will run throughout the length of the program. At these ‘Sharing Days’, participants of the Good Afternoon Program will have the opportunity to share dishes from their own diverse cultural backgrounds and to learn about healthy food from other cultures.

Sports and Fitness
The other component of the Good Afternoon Program (GAP) focuses on the physical activities that enhance proper fitness for young migrants and refugees. The program will give participants greater chances to be part of a sport of their interest.
This physical aspect of GAP will give participants a chance to enjoy playing sports, getting fit and making friends.
Sessions are run weekly on Mondays for one hour at the YMCA or Dickson College with the focus on enjoyable recreation tailored to participants’ interests and increasing participants’ skills and confidence.
Some of the fitness activities will include: soccer, badminton, dance class, tennis, and basketball, and many more!
